I love to hear different languages and different expressions to that of my own. Here’s a few to throw into the mix when saying good night. How do you say goodnight?
Goodnight
Buenas Noches
dobrú no
Dobranoc
Gute Nacht
おやすみ
buona notte
jó éjszakát
晚安
Can you help me out with some more good nights? What do you say in your house?
Tweet this out and let's see how many different ways we can find. Learn and share:)Click To Tweet
We have a little routine that involves “night night”, “sleep tight”, “sweet dreams”, “see you in the morning” and “don’t let the bed bugs bite!” We have to go through all of them before my son will go to sleep! #brillblogposts
Aahh that sounds lovely:)
Of course I am now trying to see how many of these languages I can identify! We say boring ‘night night’. I can add ‘nos da’, which is the Welsh. I had a Welsh ex & I learnt a few words & phrases in Welsh, a very few – I always quite liked nos da. It has a ring to it! #KCACOLS
nos da does have a nice ring to it!:) x
Our house is just “good night love you”. It’s interesting though to see what other people say 🙂 #EatSleepBlogRt
I usually say “Goodnight I love you” “I’ll see you in the morning”
#KCACOLS
We usually go with night night don’t let the bed bugs bite! #EatSleepBlogRT
When going up to bed and saying night to everyone else we say ‘Iyi aksamlar’ in Turkish but before I leave the room it’s usually a kiss and ‘night night, love you’ x #KCACOLS
We say ‘n-night, sweet dreams’ or ‘See you in the morning, mummy’s little darling’, the second was what my mum used to say to me! #KCACOLS
That’s lovely:) thank you x
Sometimes we say to my son “lala Salama” which is Swahili because his father is Kenyan and it almost means sweet dreams.
I always use “tesbahi ala khair” with my mother and siblings which is Arabic;
with other relatives I say “Habeen wanaagsan” which is Somali because I’m Somali #KCACOLS
Oh thank you so much for adding your wonderful sayings to my list:) Mainy
I have LOOOOVED reading through these comments. I love all the traditions, especially the ones that have been passed down-how absolutely sweet!!! Oddly, we don’t have a tradition, we just mostly say goodnight. But that could also be because our son sleeps in our bed, hahaha! #KCACOLS
We say Goodnight but more importantly we say I love you.
Beautiful:)
We always say night night don’t let the bed bugs bite! xx
#KCACOLS
I tend to say ‘go to bed go to bed go to bed go to bed’ about thirty times! Then a kiss and a see you in the morning when they have finally obliged ! #kcacols
We say ‘dream about me’ rather than good night
#KCACOLS
what a lovely post, my nan always said “night, god bless” and my mum would say “night night, sleep tight” with my little girl we say ” night night sweet dreams, see you in the morning” nice and simply but she now replies… “night night see ya morning” which is adorable x thanks for sharing x #eatsleepblogRT
That’s beautiful, it’s lovely when there are sayings which are passed down through families, Mainy x

Night night, sleep tight, Mummy loves you…see you when your sun comes up! #KCACOLS
It is usually Goodnight or night, night. In my sons case, nothing gets said at all as he spends most of his time hiding in his room lol x

Nos da here in Wales! x #KCACOLS
Nos da is welsh, I don’t really know why I know that.
I usually go BED TIME…GO TO SLEEP!!! in a darth vader type voice…
Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday
We usually go on the silly side. Sometimes the usual ‘night’ or ‘night night’ or if we are being silly a faux threatening ‘get to sleep nowww (dragged out in a mockney accent)’ and a pointed finger and squinty eyes. Usually reserved for sleepovers when things are getting out of hand for a laugh though #kcacols
Lol I love that! X
We like an eskimo kiss – rubbing noses. I have no idea if actual eskimos do this, but my mum always did it with us and that’s what she called it. Sorry if that’s wrong! x Alice
#kcacols
It’s perfect:) x
We cuddle up, read stories and whisper “nighty night”
Since December 26th my son says “Merry Christmas!” as a night time send off. I think he thinks it just means ‘good night’!
Bon nuit!
Schlaf gut!
#KCACOLS
Aahh that’s so sweet, thanks for the new language ones too:) x
In our house my mum made up a rhyme that we used to say goodnight when she tucked us in. I now use it with my own children it is silly but we love it. First the adult says. ‘Nickey nackey noo, I love you’ then the child says ‘nickey nackey noo love you too’ #KCACOLS
A simple ‘night night’ often shortened to ‘n-night’ for laziness!
